Still: Eight weeks or 56 days or 1344 hours or 80640 minutes or …. until I move to Kenya. And slowly I realize the challenge of moving in another country.
After many people wished it, today I want to give you a little insight into how the preparation looks after I decided a year ago, that I will move to Kenya on March ´21. If you have any questions left, feel free to contact me in the comments below or on Instagram.
Move to a foreign country for several years. Where do I want to live, what living standard I want , how much should it cost and what People would I Live with? All questions I answered for myself in spring 2020. Together with my trainer Thomas Potzinger we took chances and built a small house in Kenya. Especially from August to October it costs us a lot of time and nerves. But now our house is standing and I am glad to have the long-term benefit of my own property. At this point again a big thanks to Thomas! Hundreds of hours of work and even more nerves than me, he invested in this project.
2. The move itself
Sounds pretty easy at first. I thought so, too. Book flights, apply for visas, log off residence from Germany and that´s it. It's not that simple. The last few weeks I invested around six hours per day to work on the individual points. Here´s a phone call or an e-mail, so that all changes are registered in time by March and I can move to Kenya with as few open tasks as possible. I was not aware of the extent of the individual tasks. But it will be worthwhile if, as so often, I profit from the work that has been invested now till March.
3. Time to say Goodbye
Of course, I will be coming back to Germany and Europe. The first time is planned in October, but most of the year I will spend in Kenya. Time with friends and family becomes rarer and more precious the last weeks. I experience a lot of things for the last time. That's why I try to enjoy every moment with family and friends as best as I can. Something we should keep in mind if we don't move away 😉
I hope you´ve got a little insight into current tasks and challenges. A lot of things are in the pipeline and are not yet ready for discussion. So you can look forward to more cool projects the next few weeks. If there are any questions unanswered, don't hesitate to write a message in the comments below or on Instagram.
Best wishes, Manuel
